Being a small business, I appreciate honesty when I need something fixed. If it's too old and I would be better off buying a new one, I want to know. I figure that the customer would like to know this, too. I will happily tell a customer their computer isn't worth fixing and they should buy a new one, if it's the truth.
We have been in business for 10 years now, which is longer than anyone in central Iowa. Over the last twelve years, over 100 computer stores have come and gone, and Repair.com is still here. There are only three places in the Des Moines area that have been here that long: Best Buy(Can you really afford them?), CompUSA(No longer out of business, but not the same company it was, where I worked at 12 years ago), and Cowden Computers (NOT out of business, also worked at 12 years ago). I didn't like the pushy sales environment that these places offered, so I started fixing computers without trying to sell someone a new one. Twelve years later, I'm still here.
